To honor Sydney’s histories of activism and resistance of earlier generations, Eulogy for the Dyke Bar recreated the 1970s ‘CAMP Women’s Night’ with Robyn Kennedy.
Campaign Against Moral Persecution (CAMP) was a lesbian and gay political organization founded in 1970. Each Wednesday night, lesbians met at 33A Glebe Point Road to socialize and self-organize. The recreation of ‘CAMP Women’s Night’, offered its traditional ham and cheese toasties and instant coffee. Robyn also shared stories from the recently published book CAMP: Australia’s pioneer homosexual rights activists (2022).
Robyn Kennedy is part of the 78ers, a group of the original activists who marched in the original Sydney Mardi Gras on 24 June 1978 and participated in the subsequent protests against police violence.
